YANKTON LUNCH RIDE

April....
We were met out the Knappa Store for our ride to Yankton, Or buy the local authorities. Has something to do with a 3 wheel Goldwing doing burnouts in the parking lot?

OK, it wasn't, it was Just Mike N. he could not ride with us today he had to work

Where is Yankton Oregon you say? Well it is on the Grand Tour Check Point Ride. Several of the members here are participating this year. Yankton is one of the check points.

That's Anne on her Trike chatting with Mary H.

Don S. Doug B and Dave H. getting instructions from Vickie L. before we head out.

What are they talking about?

The route to Yankton will take us down Hwy 30 to Clatskanie. We will take Hwy 47 to Mist and onto Scappose St Helens Rd. Making a few turns here and there and we arrive in Yankton. I don't know what the population is but it's not many.

Here we are lined up at the Yankton store Restaurant.

Now don't let the looks fool you..It's really quite Country on the inside with a Restaurant that can serve over 25. There is a small deck in the back with additional seating.

I kick myself in the bottom for not taking any pictures of the inside.. I don't know what I was thinking.

We had a great lunch and are getting ready to head out.

That is Dave H on the right and Doug B on the left.

One last parting shot

Don S. on the left facing the camera.

We had some late arrivals. Dick R. and Jim and Katie S. (who came in there really cool 55 Chevy) arrived late but had lunch with the rest of the group.

That's me and Dave H with Dick R. and Jim R. looking on.

Allot of great bikes!

There it is one really Hot 55....

This is really a great lunch spot. If your looking for a nice ride this is it. It's just a few miles West of St. Helens. You will have to look real hard on the map to find it but it's there.

Appologies for not getting any pictures of Joy R and Jim and Katie S.

SHOALWATER CASINO TOKLAND WASHINGTON

It was a good day to Ride! The sun was out and the usual rain drops were not bouncing 6 inches off the ground.

Here Harry and Mike are obviously discussing the finer points of the Harley Davidson motorcycle.

We met at our usually spot in Astoria for coffee and to discuss the route for today's ride.

We had 10 bikes and 11 people show up for the ride.
Don commented that there seems to be alot of Harley's... But, there were some Goldwings too...

Vickie (left) and Anne waiting to head out for today's ride. Tim W. (back to the camera)

After some voting and discussion Shoalwater Casino in Tokland Washington was selected as our destination.

And what do you know! Here we are... About 73 miles later from Astoria.

We did stop of course at McDonalds in Raymond for our coffee break. (Thanks for the coffee Don)

The Tokland Casino is small but has a decent buffet and lunch menu.

Here Vickie is getting ready to head into the Casino with Dave H. (left) and Jim S. (right) in the background. Dave H. caught up with us just outside of Raymond. That made a total of 11 bikes and 12 people..

Dick (left) Mike (back to the camera) and Dave A. (right)

Dick was not off on one of his worldly adventures so he did the next best thing "he road with us"

The water feature at the Shoalwater Casino...Now if I could just figure out how to get this in my front yard.

That's it! A great ride with great weather and great people.

First Ride Of 2010

This is the first email ride of 2010! Sunday January 11th. The day did not start out as nice as Saturday ended but what the heck, IT WAS NOT RAINING! YET!

We had a pretty good turnout... 8 bikes and 11 people. We decided to ride to Tillamook. This time of the year we are a little limited where we can ride. Alot of the back roads are sanded from previous cold mornings. Staying on the main Hwy seems like the best choice.

Katie ready for the ride!

Definitely some serious BSing going on here!

Jim and Joy (facing camera)

A scenic stop at the viewpoint. Yes, it looks like all the other pictures from the viewpoint, but is not. It's today's ride which makes it a whole new picture!

Dave with Jim T's back to the camera.. hey Jim turn around!

That's better!

Jim S. Don and Jerry on the right.

Jim S. and Don

Jim R.

We roll into Tillamook and decide to eat at the Fern Restaurant for lunch.

Don and Jim checking out the menu

Alot of seating for large groups here. May make a good future dinner ride spot? Eh Jim?

Lunch is over and heading out....Well, now we head over to the Cheese Factory for Ice Cream.

Well that's the ride. Weather was pretty good most of the day. As we headed for home we took the Miami River Road. Around Nahalem we ran into some sprinkles which turned into steady rain all the way to Warrenton. I changed into my rain gear just in time for it to turn to mist in Astoria and no rain at all by the time I got home.

My bike is filthy but it will give me something today for the next several rainy days...
See you on the next ride, Maybe?

2009 Email Rides

Email rides by nature are informal notices emailed out to those who have requested to have their addresses included on the list. A email can go out at anytime with little notice. Those who show up show up. No formality here, just ride to eat!

Our first ride of the year begins pretty early. Mid January with a ride to Tillamook for Lunch

We are meeting at my house for the beginning of a ride to Cathlamet for lunch and then onto Long Beach

Lined up for the Ferry ride to Cathlamet

Not bad for mid January

Read on due to limited space I needed to continue or 2009 email rides to the next page.
