Tygh Valley July 2008

These pictures are from the Tygh Valley Camp out in July of 2008. I am posting them late because of technical difficulties I had with picture formatting. It will kinda mess up the Blogs timeline but, Oooops!

We took off for several days of riding the hills around Tygh Valley and Mt Hood.

Badger Lake... We have been there a couple of times. A mountain lake West from Tygh Valley and east of hwy 35. This would be pretty early in the year and we ran into quite a bit of snow at the higher elevations.

Uhh? Snow...We tried and tried but could not pass the snow.

That's Jim R. He made a valid attempt at crossing the snow but

Well maybe if we just try a higher gear?

Maybe a better run at it? I think we are just going to have to try another route..

Oh yeah, maybe we can go this way?

Ah, No?

Push harder... Crack! What was that noise? The back rack! Bummer

There are the most amazing roads in the mountains around Tygh Valley. Some single lane roads are actually paved in the middle of knowwhere here. Makes nice for no dust...

That's Jim T. checking out the great views..

Oh, this dude is me...Doug L. Check out Mt. Hood in the background.

That's William A. checking out something, I don't know what but it don't look good

This is William again at out lunch spot in Government Camp..... Great sand which....

Jim R. I can believe I ate the whole thing!
Back on another trail... I think maybe Lola (GPS) may have given us another bad steer.

More scenery shots...

This was a great Forest Service camp spot. Right on the river
This would make a really good camp spot but we found others that were even more remote and just as nice. Made for a good break spot.

This is a picture of William on the Barlow Trail. This is a great trail, well it is if the snow is melted and there are no big trees blocking the trail.

William and Jim R. and Jim T. are all experienced dirt bike riders. So, when we got to this area where a huge tree was blocking the trail these guys all tore up what I call "The Cliff" to get back on the trail.

Uh? That's my bike being ridden by Jim T. up The Cliff... Every man has to know his limitations.
Watch out for that Rock!

That is Jim T. riding his own bike up The Cliff...

Jim R. resting on a bridge on the Barlow Trail

Jim T. Hanging with the Bro's....

Jim R. having a great time..

William............................

Dont forget to click on the pictures if you want to make them bigger. This sign tells alot about the history of the Barlow Trail

If you find yourself in this area it is really worth the ride. The trail, baring any obsticles is not real bad, somewhere between a gravel road and a jeep trail.
It's all down hill from here. Oh yeah if you want to make it to Badger Lake or do the entire Barlow Trail, you better do it in late July or you might just run into snow.

Hope you enjoyed the pics....

CAMP 18 DINNER RIDE AUGUST 2008

The weather was promising for our ride to Camp 18 which is located 18 miles East of Hwy 101 on Hwy 26.

That is Zack on his Kawasaki Concourse

You have to watch the weather in the Coastal Mountain Range as it can be unpredictable, even in August. The only light rain we got was while we were inside. The sun was back at it by the time we headed for home

Jim and Joy's new Firemen Harley Davidson

You ever notice how some people just don't want their picture taken?

We had such a great turn out with people coming from Portland, Salem, Winston and beyond

I got a smile out of Margene

Ah....The newly Weds Tim and Nancy..........XXXOOOO

The group was so large we filled the capacity for the upstairs and some of us had to sit downstairs...

The food was good and it came fast. As you would know, if you have ever been to Camp 18 they get some big crowds...

Some of the folks who were sitting in the upstairs area.

Don and Kathy...

Hmmmmmm, that looks better than the fish head soup I had..

Dick and Zack some of our long distance dinner riders...

Hey it's Peppermint Patty and Gus!

Mike on the Left and that's Roger on the Right....

Tim and Nancy again

Dick, Jim and Katie, Vickie and Al

Jim is getting a earful from Dick who just got back from a month long Dual Sport adventure!

That's Jim and Joy in the Center. They are the planners of our dinner rides this year and did a great job!
