The trip takes us from Astoria and into Washington along the Hood Canal, the North Cascades and to our destination, Glacier Park!

Tim Williams reved up and ready to go!

Jim (Squid) Scarborough one happy camper!

Tim, Jim Scarborough, Jim Thornton and me, Doug L

We take Hwy 101 out of Astoria headed to Port Townsend where we will catch a Ferry.

Taking a break along Hwy 101 along the Hood Canal.

A much needed stop at McDonalds. Just 4 cups of coffee and we are on our way.

CB.. Check...Radar.. Check....XM Check....Ignition on!

Waiting in line for the Ferry in Port Townsend. These Ferry's are huge. The best part is that motorcycles are one of the first loaded and first off.

We met a few other motorcycle riders waiting in line. One guy was on a pretty cool Valkyrie Standard.

We did not have to wait too long, only about 30 minutes or so. You have to check out your Ferry departure times. It's pretty much on the hour.

All aboard! That is Jim Scarborough and Tim enjoying the ride.

Jim Thornton looking very casual on the promenade deck.

A view of Port Townsend from the Ferry. I definitely want to come back here just to tour the area. Port Townsend has a great skyline and many historical buildings.

Here we all are... Doug, Jim Scarborough, Tim and Jim Thornton. Do I look sea sick to you? Maybe just a little green? No, I am not but I think I will go inside and sit down for a while.

Up and down....Side to Side...Back and Forth....

Hey are we having fun yet?

Our first nights stay at a campground in Rockport Washington. The campground host let is set up in a RV site... Pretty cool. But it was right across the road from him and just maybe he wanted to keep an eye on us?

Jim and Jim... I will let you figure out which Jim in on the Right and which Jim is on the left. But camp is set up and its time to kick back and hear all those great stories that Squid has to tell..

Bikes are all tucked in.... Could not get them in the tent but Thronton tried.

This is where Tim camped. We did not know he had an extra bed in his room 'til we came and woke him up...

Pretty nice accommodations....And in this area, I ain't kidding.... Timmy's idea of roughing it, is having no WiFi....

We have left Rockport and stopped at the Diablo Dam. This is a breath taking view.

Oh yeah, that's us at the viewpoint....

If you click on this picture you can actually read it.

We are continuing along Hwy 20 in the North Cascades headed towards Winthrop.

What a great scenic road. Not alot of traffic either.

We had to stop here and take photos. What a great spot.

It only gets better.

This is Republic which was after Winthorp but photo is out of order. And once its out of order...It's stays out of order....

Republic is a historical looking town with a great ice cream shop... If you don't turn off the highway you will drive right by it.

Downtown Winthrop.... Another town with alot of character...Winthrop however is very touristy and you will run into crowds here.

Riding along Hwy 20 near Twisp....

This is a great little cafe called the Outpost Resort that we stopped at for lunch.. The only problem...The lady that takes the order is the lady that cooks the food, pumps the gas, checks out the groceries and checks in the campers. But what a great spot. You would not know this campground was behind this cafe unless you STOP..... I think this is between Kettle Falls and Priest River....

Dont try and read it... It's too blury but pretty cool eh....Taking a picture of the GPS when moving down the road at 55mph...Who says I can't multi task.....

As you can see from the mountains we are getting pretty close to Glaicer Park. Great photo opt here....

What great weather... A little warm today I think it got near 100 degrees.

West Glacier Park.....

The Road to the Sun.... There are no services along this road just great scenery. The Road to the Sun will take you directly over Glacier Park. Great road. Motorhomes are limited.

Windy twisty roads, overhanging rock face and breathtaking vistas.....

This picture says it all.....
The porta potty in the sky. What you can barely see here is that this potty is right on the edge of a 1000 foot cliff. I don't know if it was some road worker's sense of humor but Jim Tornton actually used it.... Yes, we were tempted but Jim had the only map on him!!!

More mountains and great scenery....

What we had done was to reserve our rooms in Kalispell, Mt. before heading over the Road to the Sun. What a great idea that was because by the time we got back, there was not a room to be had in the entire town....

Great shot eh?

Click on photo and check it out....

More great scenery....

A huge forest fire had erupted on the edge of Glacier Park. Many people stopped to watch the 80 foot flames as it crested the ridge. We made a b-line out of there. Looked really dangerous.

It was a good thing we got out of there. When we got back to Kalispell we found out they had closed the road.

This is Fields Spring State Park on Hwy 129 between Lewiston, Idaho and Enterprise, Oregon. Great little State Park in the Middle of nowhere...And they have showers...

Jim Thornton's and my tent... Did I tell you they have bears in this area. And did I tell you that Jim threw a apple into the forest. Did I get any sleep..... NOT.........

Hwy 129 on the way to Enterprise, Oregon

Scenic river.

Ridge overlooking Rattlesnake Canyon.....

Any idea on how it got it's name....

This is Jim Scarborough.... back at Fields State park looking very rested... But what you don't know is HE STAYED IN A MOTEL IN LEWISTON.....

Chief Joseph scenic overlook...

Jim Scarborough and Jim Thornton at Chief Joseph's overlook......

Ahhhh... What a great shot!

Heading down the road to Enterprise...
We ate here at this historic restaurant in Enterprise, Oregon.
Well that's it... We're just heading for home from here.
Stay tuned for Wild Hogs II in 2008.. When we will ride to MOAB, Utah in May.
