People and friendly faces attending the 2008 UMCI Myrtle Point Coos Bay Campout

Saturday Poker run... We got to see some really great back roads during the Poker Run. It's amazing how much you see once you get off the main road...

Happy faces must mean were having a good time!

I am not sure of the turnout numbers this year but it was pretty good. The tent campers braved some damp mornings but had a nice wood fire to keep them warm...
Dual Sport Riding in Coos Bay
Several of us have taken advantage of riding both Dual Sport and Street when attending UMCI gatherings. We arrive early and get some Dual Sport time in. Riding around the Myrtle Point and Coos Bay hills and mountains is fun and very scenic.

Here we are getting ready for a morning ride..
A local map showing some of the area we road in.
Jim R, Jim T. and Roger I think are checking out Rogers bike. A new 2008 KLR 650
Some of the scenic area near Agness Oregon
Jim R. on the left is pointing out where he left Lewis and Clark on their famous journey!

Roger taking a moment to enjoy the sites
We decided to have lunch at Agness...
Its tough being a dual sport guy
roughing it in the wilderness
Not only is this a really cool spot to eat lunch, but the big Jet Boats land here to let the folks off to have lunch on the large deck.
Here we are taking a break along Bear Camp Road near the summit. You will find we take allot of breaks...
Check out the shot in the mirror...That's Roger... He spent allot of time in my mirror....
We took several forest service roads from Galice back towards Powers. I have to say one of the most fun windy twisty (paved) roads I have been on in a long time.. It is just amazing how many forest service roads in the middle of nowhere are paved?
It was getting warm here. I longed for the cool ocean air....
A great picture of the area we were riding through...

Yep, a paved road in the middle of nowhere. Now don't get me wrong...I like the dirt and gravel roads....But you just can't complain when the road is paved and your not eating the dirt of the three guys in front of you....
Hmmmm? Is that a map I see?
This sign shows which way to go...Now only if I could read it..... Don't forget you can click on the picture to make it bigger...
We made it back to camp. It was late but we had a really great ride. Now where are we riding tomorrow??
